NEWS REPORT :: December 2008

Dear Brethren:

A blessed New Year to everyone!

As we approached December, we were so eager to start the Christmas Cantata tour. The choir members spent extra time practicing to be ready by December 6. We thank the Lord because He made all things work together for good.

The early Christmas gifts from the Lord – service vehicles (coaster and van) – largely inspired the choir in their preparation and boosted their desire to present in various congregations/places. Most of all, so excited to respond to the many invitations from churches.

On the other hand, staff also made necessary preparations for it as the choir members kept on finalizing their respective parts. We all prayed fervently for guidance.

Came the start of the Christmas tour. There were 32 tour members – 24 choir members and 8 staff. We had the following choir itinerary.

6 Gonzaga, Cagayan 7:30 p.m. 15 Calinaoan Sur, D.Albano, Isa. 5:00 p.m.

  Palao, Solana, Cagayan 7:30 p.m.   Bagu, Pamplona, Cagayan 7:30 p.m.

The choir had 20 performances, 19 for the core group (24 members only) and 1 performance for the full choir (48 students) at Aparri. We want to congratulate Sis. Grace L. Alvarez for the effort extended to train these students to develop their singing abilities. Congratulations to the choir for a job well done! Use your voices for the Lord!

With this noteworthy program, we are able to reach out the brethren; likewise, promote the seminary. Moreover, same serves as a good venue for rich experience and exposure of our students. Most importantly, with this activity our faith is also strengthened.

This year’s Christmas concert tour is much easier and more comfortable than the previous because of better service vehicles. We thank the Lord for this provision. We also thank you, brethren, for your gifts to the ABS choir and, of course, for meeting our needs while we were with you. May God bless you more richly this New Year!

In Him,

NEWS REPORT :: December 2007

Dear Brethren,

We always give thanks to the Lord for what He does to all of us here at Aparri Bible Seminary.

After a two-week break from classes of our students, they returned for the second semester. Seventy two (72) are enrolled. Some returned; some transferred while others stopped.

We had our first week of classes when we were visited by 2 typhoons. Lando and Mina have not left yet and here was Mina approaching again. The two typhoons in joint forces swept Cagayan Valley with its signal number 3; thus, greatly affecting our two dormitories. The ladies dorm was totally wet because of roof leakage. The men’s dorm also was flooded – our main building which we use for classes and regular activities was also leaking. This strongly pushes us to really start the new ABS building as soon as possible.

On the second week of classes was the Rhetorical Literary Night (RLS). Congratulations to all Rhetoricians for a splendid performance. You have displayed your talents and have shown a very good cooperation. Praise the Lord!

As we were settling in our classes, that brought us to a month of hectic preparations for the Christmas Cantata. The music department headed by Sis. Grace Lopez Alvarez really took time to prepare the Christmas Concert entitled “CHRISTMAS IS FOREVER: Unchanging Love in an Ever-changing World.” As the concert choir is getting ready, we also took time to coordinate with churches as well as individuals for concert itinerary. It was planned that the tour starts from. December 8-23, 2007. Below is the concert itinerary:

From the 72 students, 53 are enrolled in Concert Choir, 22 are members of the concert tour. We had a very hectic schedule but we had fun and enjoyed the fellowship from brethren.

Our personal congratulations to the 22 members of the concert choir (God bless all of you including your choir directors). Your willingness and your patience showed how much you love the Lord. Five faculty members joined the tour while others stayed for classes. We also thank those who in one way or another helped in this concert.

To all of those whom we visited, thank you very much for your love, support and hospitality. We came not only to perform but have been encouraged by your love in serving our Lord. May you be blessed richly as you continue to be our partners in the ministry of the Seminary.

This is our prayer – may the joy of Christmas and the rich blessing of our Lord be upon all of you. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A BLESSED NEW YEAR!

NEWS REPORT :: December 2006

Dear Brethren:

We were extremely excited to have reached 2007! With grateful hearts we can’t help but recall how we spent our yuletide season – the fun, the merriment and enjoyment and the renewed spirit of continuing to serve the Seminary.

Bro. Mike, who visited us recently, was so impressed because of the great courage of the brotherhood in continuing the ministry of the seminary. It’s his desire to really work with us through campaigning in the United States for the Seminary. He plans to come back next year after he left for the States. We praise the Lord for His burning zeal to serve.

We had our Christmas Cantata last December 14 at the Aparri Church chapel. Many came to watch with some brethren from nearby churches. After the Christmas party on December 15, the concert choir (20 members only from the 48 choir members) started their tour.

Below was the itinerary of the choir:

Date Place Time
Dec. 16 Toran Church 7:30 p.m.
Dec. 17 (a.m.) Tuguegarao Church 9:30 a.m.
Dec. 17 (p.m.) Sinamar Church 7:30 p.m.
Dec. 20 Lapogan Church 7:30 p.m.
Dec. 21 Barumbong Church 7:30 p.m.
Dec. 22 Calanigan Church 7:30 p.m.

Aside from our own students, there was a special participation of Aparri kids in the cantata. Three of them –Caryle Angela Lopez as soloist, Lawrence Racho as the drummer boy and Stephen Louis Dalilis as the child narrator. Sis. Marites D. Peneyra, Sis. Jemima Columna and Bro. Alex Agresor were alternate adult narrators. We’re happy to have presented “WONDROUS GIFT” Cantata to these places although we have not gone to others who invited us. Students needed to go their teaching/preaching areas for their Christmas programs. The choir was dismissed on December 23.

Likewise, the kitchen construction was on full swing. We aim to have finished at the beginning of this New Year. This will surely enhance the stay of the boys when their kitchen shall be finished. Thank you again for your continued support. Glory to the Lord!

Our merriment to celebrate Christmas as fulfilled when we have received your gifts to us, staff (including our families and the students). We got our box (from NABSFIH), gifts from Bro. Joelo and Sis. Myrna Saldevar from Hawaii, and gifts from Sis. Vilma Barredo from Manila. Thank you very much for your love to us, your thoughtfulness and your concern for all of us here in the seminary. May the Lord continue to pour out more blessings for you and your families. How can we say thanks if not to lift all of you to the Lord who showers blessings to those who love Him.

Our hearts are filled with joy because of your support to the Seminary. Please continue to be our partners in the Lord.

In Him,
