NEWS REPORT :: October – December 2014

Dear Brethren:

We continue to give glory to God for all of you who are our partners in the ministry. Here’s an update of our ministry.

October

Another busy month in preparation for final examination for the first semester.

The Forensic Literary Society (FLS) worked so hard for their FLS Night. They presented a very unique and splendid program last October 3. It was here that the Forensians proved their abilities despite the situation of their critic, Mr. Alex Agresor, who had his motor accident last September 7. Keep up the good work, Forensians!

A piano recital was held last October 10. It was a good opportunity for those who missed their recital last March. There were also selected freshmen who joined in the recital. Congratulations!

The following week was the final examination; aside from that, it was time to complete requirements for students and submission of grades for teachers. After this, students were off from classes for semestral vacation. Teachers had a follow-up with prospective students for second semester. We really had a hard time reaching our target places for promotion for we lack mobility for it. Please pray with us that He may provide a vehicle for the ministry to use.

November

Before the start of the second semester, the girls needed to move to the new girls’ dormitory. What a joy for them to have a new and more spacious housing! As they settled, there was emphasis in the maintenance and cleanliness of the dorm and taking good care of the place. Our second semester opened last November 4 with sixty-five (65) students. God answered our prayer. To Him be the glory.

The music department has started preparing for the ABS Christmas musical concert which will be presented on December 12.

December

The whole academe became very busy as faculty tried to finish a section of their subjects’ syllabi and, simultaneously, made full-swing practices with the students for the fast approaching Christmas Cantata.

The full choir that involved all the students had their first and grand presentation last December 12. After this, the choir’s core group started bringing the cantata to the different partner-churches and schools in the region who invited them. The concert tour ends by the 22nd.

As we approach the closing of this year, we thank you again, brethren, for your patronage and continuing support to the Aparri Bible Seminary. Your faithful partnership, prayers, and service here have kept the ministry fulfill its mission of spreading the Gospel to the lost souls through the competent and dedicated teachers and preachers it continually produces.

We fervently pray that our generous God may continue to pour His abundant blessings on you and your families; that He would give you better health and strength, deeper and more dynamic faith, real peace and joy.

Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year!

NEWS REPORT :: November – December 2012

Dear Brethren:

Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year to all!

Our last two months of the year is so exciting and fruitful. As we started the second semester, we had six (6) students added to our first semester. We praise the Lord for our seventy- five (75) students, all full time. Thank you, Lord!

As classes started, the music department became busy preparing for the Christmas Cantata, an annual Christmas musical concert activity of the seminary. Patience and perseverance were seen among our students as they faithfully attended choir practices with Ma’am Grace Alvarez. They met barely twice a week but they needed to extend their time just so they could master their parts ready for the presentation on the fifth week (second week of December).

The full choir, seventy three students, presented successfully at the Aparri Church of Christ (ACOC) chapel on December 12. Many brethren from nearby churches came and watched the cantata. It was such a marvelous program that everyone who came was blessed. After this big presentation, a core group (composed of 22 students) was chosen to tour the concert to various churches in Cagayan Valley and Ilocos regions. The following was the ABS concert tour itinerary.

DATE DAY & TIME CHURCHE(S)
December
12 Wednesday 07:30 p.m. Aparri COC
14 Friday 07:30 p.m. Minanga COC
15 Saturday 07:30 p.m. Gonzaga COC
16 Sunday 10:00 a.m. Tuguegarao COC
07:30 p.m. Babalag COC
18 Tuesday 07:30 p.m. Roxas COC
19 Wednesday 10:00 a.m. Ballesteros COC
07:30 p.m. Sanchez Mira COC
20 Thursday 07:30 p.m. Batac (Ilocos Norte) COC
21 Friday 7:30 p.m. Battalan COC
22 Saturday 07:00 p.m. Northern Isabela Churchesof Christ Association (NICCA)

NICCA composed of seventeen (17) churches and no less than a thousand individuals watched the concert.

This choir tour was tiresome yet very uplifting, encouraging and challenging to all of us as we visited brethren and presented once again the birth of Jesus through music.

To all our brethren, churches and individuals who, in one way or the other, helped and supported this ABS choir thank you so much.

To our students and other members of this concert, congratulations for a job well done! Hurray for Ma’am Grace! Thank you very much!

Again, we continue to ask for your prayers. The on-going construction of seminary building project is temporarily suspended since resources have been exhausted. We’re appealing to you all, brethren, please join us and support this urgent ministry project. May the Lord bring all the needs of this project that it may be finished the soonest.

God bless you all, brethren.

In Him,
LEOLINDA B. COLUMNA

NEWS REPORT :: December – January 2012

Dear Brethren:

A blessed new year to all!

We ended 2011 with thankful hearts because the Lord made it possible for us to finish our programs victoriously. Praise the Lord!

The concert choir presented the Christmas Cantata on December 11. All the students of ABS performed at Aparri church, graced by their aqua long sleeve for men and aqua dresses for ladies. Their “Searching for the King” theme was brought to different churches in the region. They had splendid performances on songs, interspersed with two different plays – old and modern ones. Once again, another opportunity for our students to display their talents.

To our sponsors-churches and individual brethren, thank you very much for your continued support. We pray that the Lord will bless you more abundantly.

As we entered 2012 after the Christmas season, we welcomed everyone into the new year. This includes the presence of brethren from USA – Bro. Mike Burns, Ma’am Daisy Cajigal, Heidi Miele (Mike’s sister), Heather Merchut (Heidi’s daughter), and Barbara Burns (Mike’s sister-in-law). They came to the Philippines particularly to visit Aparri Bible Seminary, which they’re supporting. We just hope they were inspired and encouraged by what they have seen at the seminary. Thank you very much for coming over to see us. Please give room for ABS in your hearts, Ma’am Heidi, Ma’am Barb and Heather.

The team, spearheaded by Ma’am Daisy Aguas Cajigal, also conducted a Health Screening program for the indigents. Faculty and staff, as well as some brethren in the medical profession like Dr. Susan Daquioag and Dr. Belinda Deñola, and some nursing graduates and students came to help. Thank you for your services. To God be the glory.

There were at least two hundred indigents who benefited from the health screening program. They were so happy for each of them also received gift packs of grocery items. We hope such type of program will be repeated anew.

Our visitors left Aparri on January 14 and visited Philippine Bible Seminary (Vigan); then, Baguio, after that, they immediately went to Davao. They left Manila for the USA on January 21. It was rejuvenating on their part leaving their work for sometime. Please visit us again.

To the rest of our benefactors, we thank you for your continued support. We’re now enjoying our stay in the new building but continuing to pray that the last phase of the project be finished very soon.

God bless you all.

In Him,
LEOLINDA B. COLUMNA

NEWS REPORT :: November – December 2010

Dear Brethren:

We’re so happy to have experienced joyous Christmas season. We know everyone of you had one, too. As we prepared for the annual Christmas Cantata we encouraged the choir members to be diligent and cooperative in order to have a very good presentation for His glory. We undergirded this program with fervent prayers.

We really had busy days in preparation – checking the sound system, props to be made, making posters and fliers and program printing for the thirteen places the concert choir is going perform.

Before we embarked on this Christmas musical concert to the different congregations in the region, we first held a simple Christmas party/picnic for the whole ABS family on December 10. Following that were the initial presentations at Toran and Centro, Aparri, churches on December 12. The full choir performed in the latter with the attendance of some heads of schools/offices in Aparri and other guests aside from the brethren here. It was such a splendid performance!

We give God all the glory and honor for having a program wherein unchurched people have witnessed once again the story of Jesus’ birth. Well done, ABS choir!

The concert choir (twenty three members only) accompanied by four of the staff went to various places as indicated in the following itinerary:
DATE (December) TIME PLACE/CHURCH
12 9:00 a.m.

7:30 p.m.

Toran Church

Aparri Church

13 7:30 p.m. Minanga Church
14 7:30 p.m. Gonzaga Church
15 2:00 p.m.

7:30 p.m.

Ballesteros Church

Sta. Marcela Church

16 7:30 p.m. Battalan Church
17 7:30 p.m. Roma Norte Church
18 8:00 a.m. Roxas Church
19 10:00 a.m.

7:30 p.m.

Tuguegarao Church

Palao Church

20 7:30 p.m. Babalag Church
21 7:30 p.m. San Andres Church
It was such an experience again – a time to visit brethren, a promotion of the seminary, a way to evangelize people and a mean to strengthen brethren. To the concert choir – a great exposure. Our congratulations to all the members and to Ma’am Grace Lopez Alvarez, their directress. Thank you to all the production staff and to all the brethren who invited the choir. God bless you all.

Meanwhile, construction of the third phase of the building project is in full swing. Available funds may be able to finish up to the flooring of the second deck. Thank you so much, brethren, for the help that you’re extending to us, particularly for this project. Please continue supporting us and this project so that the classrooms and roofing of the second floor may all be finished and that we shall finally move out of the old wooden building that we’re still using.

May the Lord continue His abundant blessings to all of you who are continually supporting the seminary’s ministry and projects.

God bless you all.

In His service,
LEOLINDA B. COLUMNA
