NEWS REPORT :: October 2009

Dear Brethren:

We cry for help!

You would have seen us during the two successive typhoons, Ondoy and Pepeng, that visited Aparri. As this news report is made, typhoon Ramil (Lupit) is fast approaching toward Aparri again.

On the first week of October, we were threatened by typhoon Ondoy. It brought great calamity in Northern and Central Luzon. Then came typhoon Pepeng which targeted Northern Luzon and Ilocos region.

People in Aparri sought refuge and evacuated into nearby and high places. This was because of the rise of water that added to the fear from strong winds and continuous heavy rains.

Here at ABS, we had suffered great damages. The roof of the main building is no longer a help. Things got wet. We feel the roof still needs fixing for the safekeeping of properties – books, instruments, and others. The mission houses need repair, too. The windows are blown away making allowances for water to come in. Both dormitories are almost blown apart. Everything got wet now because of so many leaks of the roofs. Brethren, we cry for your helping hand. Please extend you help to ABS.

We have a partially finished part of the new building but we can’t possibly transfer things there. We still need to install windows and doors. If typhoons visit us again, we surely lose most of our valuables for instructions. Let’s spare what we have, by all means!

Just after the two typhoons, some of us have to go to churches and brethren. We were able to meet parents of our students, got some evaluations of our interns and especially updated our sponsors what’s going on in the seminary. Thank you very much for all of those supports – financial as well as your prayers. May the Lord continue to richly bless you more.

Before we had our semestral break, the Rhetorical Literary Society (RLS) had a splendid program last October 9. Congratulations, Rhetoricians! Continue to develop those talents and use them for Him.

Brethren, we’re happy that the Lord has blessed our first semester. We praise Him for that and for bringing Bros. Federico S. Bueno and Edison G. Marquez into the ABS teaching force. Both of them got to teach classes left by Bro. Perry L. Alan who left for Hawaii last month. We know everything works together for Him!

Please continue to pray for the seminary as we keep praying for all of you. Thank you for all the support and love to all of us. May God be praised for all of you.

In Him,
