NEWS REPORT :: September 2008

Dear Brethren,

Christian greetings to everyone!

“I have been young and now old, I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor their children begging bread” – Ps. 37:25. This significant verse has been ringing aloud in the Seminary for the first two weeks of September. “NEVER FORSAKEN” was the theme of the Deeper Life Week on September 8-12. This is an annual program of the Seminary. This is to strengthen and deepen our faith in the Lord and to bring a closer relationship with one another. This week was prepared by conducting contests of different categories – poster and slogan making depicting the theme, memory work, and essay writing (English and Iluko).These contests were done to set the minds and heart of students for the Deeper Life Week.

The week started with an opening chapel service on Monday, Sept. 8, with the message “Enjoying Protection”; then, on subsequent days, the following messages followed: “Enjoying Preservation”, “Enjoying Provision”, “Enjoying Promotion”, and “Enjoying Promises.”

We also had the opportunity to clean the Aparri Public Park as part of our community service on Thursday morning. We’ve planned to go out for outing to culminate the week but because of “typhoon Marce” we did enjoy our group culminating activities in the campus. The week was really invigorating, refreshing and very strengthening. Each one is thankful for this program.

On the following week, on Sept. 18, we had the next “Buhos Fellowship” (concreting of the 2nd floor’s roof). Many brethren from supporting churches came – San Jose, Baua, Cabirauan, Gonzaga, Rebecca, Palagao, Toran, Logac, Antagan, Calinaoan Sur, Bayabo, Barumbong, Villa Pereda, Buguey, Palawig, and Aparri. How good and pleasant it is for brethren to have unity. Praise the Lord!

The “Buhos” started at 7 a.m. and lasted until 12 midnight. Some of the brethren needed to go home before 5 p.m. Our students willingly continued the concreting together with the staff, other brethren from Aparri and the hired workers. Oh what a joy to see the result of the many hands that worked together!

As we approach the end of the fist semester, students get very busy for the last two activities – FLS Day and the Voice and Piano Recital. They studiously continue to prepare for their special nights – Dear students, all you need is patience!

We also continue to have prayer meetings. Now that the first phase of the new building is done. We pray for the next phase. We thank the Lord for sustaining us and for those brethren who graciously extend their support in every aspect of the ABS ministry.

Thank you, brethren. You’re always in our prayers.

In Him,

Administrator, ABS
